Its alright -
I’m used to it

I’ve lived this life far too long now
I’ve been a bishop, a pawn, but never king.
You certainly owe no apologies
I willingly wear my heart on my sleeve
I knew it could be used to convict me-
Weakness giving you permission to leave.

If this was a game,
It would have ended long  ago-
It isnt,I’m way too serious for that
In the game of life,
Win, lose, or draw sounds appealing
Not getting my way has become so…old hat.

Happily ever after is a museum piece,
Unattainable to even Prince Charming
Efforts result in nil most days-
It’s most alarming – quite disarming.

A paralyzed man never dances-
A mute never has a voice
Their show nonetheless entertains you
It’s not like they have a choice.

I am the stray dog that is dying
You or I, who got found?
Once I was a cute puppy
Your conscience keeps me around.
