The Emotional Orphan

In my youth it was the fastest,
the highest,
most dramatic vertical drop.
These days it is not enough.

Twenty-seven times in a row,
two five hour days back to back
spent trying to relive the rush of the first time.
Never. It was too far gone.
I should have taken it as an presage.

Even riding with no hands in the front car could not come close.
Its the progression for a junkie-a human.
How long could it possibly have held its charm?
More, More, More.

The youth of today are not impressed.
It is just not enough for the X Box generation.
The wooden coasters intricate engineering is old and boring.
Nihilism and apathy of the last decade is dead as well.
No “why” will ever be answered,
Has no importance.

Going backwards to find the thrill of the first ride is a waste of time.
So, What?! I said that too.
Sometimes though I still do go backwards to find it.
ALWAYS asking – why?
