Coppery Red, White, and Blue

He Stood there.
Statuesque.
Framed in the doorway.
White gloves, white cap.
Rainbow medals just above his heart,
against the sea of blue.
Brass buttons, shiny,
in line reflecting Moonlight.

White words, white lies.
Rainbow flowery, as if from the heart.
Against the sea of boredom.
Shiny words like river-stone worn down.
Words, coppery like the
smell of blood for no reason.

Crumpled.
Framed in the doorway.
Wet hair from showering, white robe.
Rainbow life flowing from her half heart.
Shiny, coppery blood flowing from the wound inside.
Words fail except one.
